Where Is Lucas Gilbreath From?

A Major League Baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, Lucas Grant Gilbreath has a collegiate degree from the University of Colorado. On March 5, 1996, he was born in the United States and currently lives in Colorado.

In Broomfield, Colorado, Gilbreath attended Legacy High School, where he got his secondary education. A 36th-round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies,

he chose to attend the University of Minnesota instead of signing with the Rockies in order to play college baseball. As a member of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2016, he played summer baseball for his collegiate club during the Cape Cod Summer Baseball League season.



The Colorado Rockies re-drafted him in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft and signed him to a contract.

For the first time, Gilbreath played for a minor league team affiliated with the Rockies. Gilbreath had a 7-8 record and a 5.04 ERA in 116.0 innings of work with the Asheville Tourists in 2018. He struck out 119 batters.

Lancaster Jets of the Carolina League, where he had a 5-10 record with an earned run average of 5.81 and 143 strikeouts in 28 innings of work in the 2019 season.

The Rockies added him to their 40-man roster following the 2020 season. No game was played by Gilbreath when he made the jump to the major leagues on April 17, 2021.

He was returned to the team’s active roster on May 1st. It was Josh Rojas’ first MLB appearance and his first as a reliever, and he was hit by a home run.

Even with a 3.38 earned-run average, Gilbreath has remained one of the best Rockies relievers this season. He fanned 44 hitters in 42+23 innings of work.
