Lucas Gilbreath’s full name is Lucas Grant Gilbreath. He is one of the professional baseball players currently in the major leagues. He plays as a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies baseball team. He is 1.85 m tall and weighs 84 kg.
He grew up in Colorado where he was born on March 5, 1996. He played baseball when he was in high school at Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado. He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB draft but he did not sign with them and chose to play college baseball at the University of Minnesota.
Before he graduated from college, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies after college during the 2017 MLB draft. He signed with them this time and made his professional debut that year with the rookie ball Grand Junction Rockies.
The Rockies assigned him to spend the 2018 season playing for the Single-A Asheville Tourists. He spent the 2019 season playing for the High-A Lancaster JetHawks. Lucas was added to the Rockies’ 40-man roster when the 2020 season ended.
The Rockies selected his contract and called him up to the majors in April 2021. He made his MLB debut for the team on May 1, 2021.
