Austin Zachary Gomber currently plays for the Major League Baseball Colorado Rockies (MLB). Gomber plays the position of a pitcher for the Rockies wearing jersey number 26. He had previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball.
After graduating from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, Gomber attended Florida Atlantic University for his undergraduate studies. In college, he played for the Florida Atlantic Owls. He is currently 28 years old and was born on November 23, 1993.
In the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Gomber with a $374,100 bonus. His first assignment was with the Class A-Short Season State College Spikes of the New York–Penn League. According to the Cardinals, he was one of the two Co-Minor League Pitchers of the Year in 2015.
Before getting promoted to the Springfield Cardinals in July 2016, Gomber signed with the Palm Beach Cardinals at the beginning of the year. He pitched seven innings in his second start for Springfield on July 30, 2016, against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Gomber was promoted by the Cardinals from Memphis to long relief pitcher on April 29, 2018. On May 4, he was given the chance to return to Memphis, but he did not appear.
Gomber was traded to the Colorado Rockies on February 1, 2021, where he currently plays.
