Goudeau graduated from Union High School in Union, Missouri. He was not drafted, so he attended Maple Woods Community College after high school.
In the 27th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, the Kansas City Royals picked Goudeau. Goudeau played for the AZL Royals for the whole 2012 season, posting a 1-1 record and a 3.97 ERA in 34 innings.
He played all of 2013 with the Idaho Falls Chukars, posting a 1-5 record and a 10.18 ERA in 40+2/3 innings. Goudeau, David McKay, Matt Tenuta, and Colin Rodgers were traded to the Seattle Mariners on March 22, 2018, for a sum of one dollar.
He played for the Tacoma Rainiers, the Modesto Nuts, and the Arkansas Travelers in 2018. Goudeau was taken off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds on May 2, 2021.
On May 23 against the Milwaukee Brewers, Goudeau made his season debut and threw 2.1 hitless innings. He pitched in 5 games for the Reds, finishing with a 4.00 ERA and 5 strikeouts.
Goudeau was assigned by the Reds on July 28 after being sent to the Triple-A Louisville Bats on July 21.
On July 29, 2017, the Colorado Rockies traded Goudeau to the San Diego Padres in exchange for money. In his first professional performance on August 1, he had his first career hit with a single from Reiss Knehr.
