Robert Stephenson is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Cincinnati Reds.
When Stephenson was nine years old, he began pitching. With a 4.2-grade point average, he graduated from Alhambra High School in Martinez, California.
During his senior year of high school, Stephenson’s baseball club started the season with back-to-back no-hitters. In 76+23 innings pitched, he concluded the season with an 8–2 record and a 1.19 ERA.
He had 142 strikeouts, 23 walks, and 29 hits in his career. Alhambra made it to the second round of the North Coast Section Division III playoffs.
He was selected Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in California by the Gatorade Foundation. That year, Baseball America ranked him as the 25th-best prospect and the 12th-best right-handed pitcher in the draft, respectively.
Stephenson was selected to pitch for the West Team in the 2010 Aflac All-America Game and threw two shutout innings. To play for the Washington Huskies baseball team at the University of Washington, Stephenson has already made a commitment to enrolling in the school.
