Colton Welker, an American professional baseball third baseman with the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball, was born on October 9, 1997. With the Colorado Rockies, he made his Major League Baseball debut in 2021.
From Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Welker was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft.
He renounced his commitment to the University of Miami and signed with Colorado. Welker played for the Grand Junction Rockies during the 2016 season, where he batted.329 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in 51 games.
Welker played 98 games with the Hartford Yard Goats in 2019 while hitting.252 with ten home runs and 53 RBIs. Since the 2020 minor league season was postponed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, he did not participate in a single game.
Welker was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2020. Welker was given an 80-game ban on May 6, 2021, after testing positive for CDMT.
Welker made his MLB debut on September 8, 2021, against the San Francisco Giants, but failed to get a hit in his lone at-bat. On July 6, 2022, he was marked for assignment.
On July 8, 2022, the San Francisco Giants claimed Welker off waivers.
