Kris Bryant is an American professional baseball third baseman and outfielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants.
The University of San Diego Toreros were on Bryant’s collegiate baseball team while he was a student there. When Bryant attended Bonanza High School, he was an all-star pitcher. The Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award was his college accolades in 2013, as he was twice selected as an All-American.
It didn’t take long for him to rise to prominence after being taken by the Cubs with the No. 2 overall pick in 2013’s MLB draft. In 2014, he won both the USA Today and Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year awards.
His major league career began in 2015 when Bryant made his debut. Both the American League (AL) and the National League (NL) recognized him as Rookie of the Year.
The Cubs won the World Series in 2016, and he was voted the National League’s Most Valuable Player. A seven-year contract was signed with the Rockies prior to the start of the 2022 season after the Cubs traded him to the Giants.
