He was drafted in 2016 by the San Diego Padres in the eighth overall selection of the 2016 MLB draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut that year with the Arizona Padres. He was promoted during the season to the Tri-City Dust Devils and then to the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
He was assigned to spend the 2017 season with both the San Antonio Missions and the Lake Elsinore Storm.
