One of the professional baseball players currently in the Cleveland Guardians organisation is Austin Hedges. He takes the position of a catcher and has a height of 1.83 m. He had his amateur baseball career at JSerra Catholic High School in his birth town.
He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 2nd round of the 2011 MLB draft. He agreed to play for them and signed. The Padres gave him $3 million as a signing bonus and he made his professional debut in 2012 with the Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Midwest League.
Before the 2012 season, he was ranked by Baseball America as the Padre’s fifth-best prospect. He was ranked in 2013 by MLB.com as the fourth-best catching prospect in the minor league.
During the 2013 minor league season, he was assigned to the Class-A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm and was later promoted to spend the rest of the season with the Double-A San Antonio Missions. He was promoted to the major leagues in May 2020 and he made his MLB debut on May 4 2020. The Cleveland Guardians purchased his contract in August 2020.
