Ronnie Silas Dawson Jr. is an American professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball.
He was born on May 19, 1995, in the United States. In the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft in 2016, the Houston Astros used the 62nd overall pick to choose him. He didn’t make his debut in the MLB until 2021.
On the baseball and football teams at Licking Heights High School in Pataskala, Ohio, Dawson grew up. Until he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in his junior year of high school, all his attention was on football.
Before his senior year, he underwent knee surgery and had to skip the football season. A year later, as a senior, he rejoined the baseball club and posted a.576 average.
The Columbus Dispatch selected Dawson as their All-Metro Team Player of the Year. He was a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes baseball team as a student there.
He also participated in the Prospect League’s Chillicothe Paints as a collegiate summer baseball player. In 2015, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was selected as a league all-star.
