Born in the United States on March 17, 1996, outfielder Stuart Alexander Fairchild represents the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Wake Forest University.
Fairchild was chosen by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft. With the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021, he made his MLB debut and has additionally represented the Seattle Mariners and the San Francisco Giants.
Fairchild played baseball for the school’s baseball team while attending Seattle Preparatory School in Seattle, Washington’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
He enrolled at Wake Forest University and competed for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in collegiate baseball. He participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Chatham Anglers in 2016.
Fairchild was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round, 38th overall, of the 2017 MLB Draft after the season and signed a contract worth $1,802,800 as a signing bonus.
He was assigned to the Billings Mustangs, a team for rookies, where he hit in 56 games. Three home runs, 23 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases are part of a 304/.393/.412 line.
Josh VanMeter and Fairchild were traded by the Reds to the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 31, 2020, in exchange for money and bullpen pitcher Archie Bradley. On June 11, 2022, the Cincinnati Reds claimed Fairchild off waivers.
