Michael Papierski is a Major League Baseball catcher and first baseman for the Cincinnati Reds. He played baseball for the LSU Tigers in college.
Papierski was born on February 26, 1996, and is currently 26 years old. Papierski comes from Palos Heights, Illinois in the United States making him an American by nationality.
The Houston Astros selected Papierski in the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. He joined the San Francisco Giants in May 2022, making his MLB debut with them.
Papierski attended Lemont High School while growing up in Lemont, Illinois. He was selected in the 16th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, but he decided to enroll at LSU rather than sign with them.
For three seasons at LSU, Papierski played baseball as his sport of choice. He filled in at catcher for the majority of Kade Scivicque’s rookie season. He participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox as a summer baseball player in 2015.
The Houston Astros drafted Papierskin in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2017. After joining the team, he was reassigned to the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League.
The Astros traded Papierski to the San Francisco Giants on May 14, 2022, in exchange for Mauricio Dubón. On May 21, 2022, Papierski was added to the Giants’ major league roster. Later on the same day, he made his debut against the San Diego Padres in a 2-1 loss.
He was picked up by the Cincinnati Reds off waivers from San Francisco on June 25, 2022. On June 29, 2022, he hit his first major league pitch against the Chicago Cubs.
