American professional baseball player Michael Papierski plays first base and catcher for the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball.
He represented the LSU Tigers in college baseball. In the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, the Houston Astros picked Papierski.
Papierski attended Lemont High School while growing up in Lemont, Illinois.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the 16th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft; however, he decided not to sign with them in favor of enrolling at LSU.
At LSU, Papierski spent three seasons playing collegiate baseball. He backed up starter catcher Kade Scivicque for most of his rookie season.
He participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox as a collegiate summer baseball player in 2015. In his sophomore year, Papierski made 40 catching starts and batted .242/.358/.387.
After throwing out 23 baserunners in 65 games as a junior, Papierski hit.256/.401/.477 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. He was also chosen to the SEC All-Defensive team.

After joining the team, he was given a job with the New York-Penn League’s Tri-City ValleyCats. In 2018, Papierski played for the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits.
In 2019, he was assigned to the Class A-Advanced Carolina League’s Fayetteville Woodpeckers, where he batted .233/.351/.324 with seven home runs, 11 doubles, and one triple, and 38 RBIs.
Papierski was included on the Astros’ roster for the Major League season’s alternate training site when the 2020 minor league season was postponed because of the COVID-19 epidemic.
With Triple-A Sugar Land Skeeters, he played in 2021, batting .246/.379/.375 with 7 home runs and 46 RBIs. He rejoined Sugar Land for the 2022 season’s opening.
