Houston Astros The Houston Astros are an American professional baseball team based in Houston. The Astros compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division, having moved to the division in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League (NL).
The Houston Astros were originally known as the Houston Colt.45s when they joined the National League in 1962 as one of two expansion teams. The other team was the New York Mets.
The current name was adopted three years later, when they moved into the Astrodome, the first domed sports stadium and the so-called “Eighth Wonder of the World.” This moniker reflects Houston’s role as the host city of the Johnson Space Center, which is located in Houston.
In the year 2000, the Astros made the shift to a brand new stadium that was dubbed Minute Maid Park. The Astros were a part of the National League West division from 1969 through 1993, then relocated to the National League Central division from 1994 until 2012, and then were moved to the American League West in 2013 as part of a minor realignment.
Houston Astros Logo
The Houston Astros have utilized a number of different logotypes over the course of their history, beginning with a relatively straightforward wordmark and progressing all the way up to a relatively intricate insignia.
Houston Astros Tickets
The Astros ticket office at Minute Maid Park will stop selling hard tickets at the stadium beginning in 2022. The only reason the stadium’s ticket office is open is to assist patrons with difficulties relating to their tickets.
Tickets may be purchased either directly from the team or through third-party ticket brokers like StubHub and Vivid Seats via their respective websites.
