On June 28 Major League Baseball on Monday night suspended a total of 12 players from the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners for their roles in a benches-clearing fight at Angel Stadium the previous day.

The on-field altercation, which started in the second inning after Angels pitcher Andrew Wantz hit Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker with a pitch on the right hip, resulted in the 10-game suspension of Angels manager Phil Nevin and a seven-game suspension for outfielder Jesse Winker.

Wantz was suspended for three games for throwing things at Winker on purpose as he was being warned. Wantz started his suspension on Monday evening.

Anthony Rendon, a third baseman with the Angels, was given a five-game suspension for leaving the dugout while hurt. When he returns from the IL, he will serve his suspension, which will prevent him from watching the team’s next seven games from the team bench.

In addition, Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford and Angels pitcher Ryan Tepera both received five-game suspensions.

Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez, Angels pitcher Raisel Iglesias, Angels bench coach Ray Montgomery, and Angels interpreter Manny Del Campo received two-game suspensions; and Angels catching coach Bill Haselman received a one-game suspension.
