Jane Furneaux Garrett was an Australian politician who served from the 16th of March 1973 to the 2nd of July 2022. From 2010 to 2018, she served as the Labor Party representative for Brunswick in the Victorian Legislative Assembly.
In 2018, she was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council, where she now serves as the representative for Eastern Victoria. Garrett ran for the position of ALP National President on the Left ticket and received support from the Left.
She was a successful candidate for the position of National junior Vice President, and her tenure in that role began in December 2011. Garrett held the position of shadow cabinet secretary in the state government before the election in 2014.
Melissa Garrett served as a Labor Member of Parliament for the district of Brunswick on the Victorian Legislative Council. She was elected to represent the Western Metropolitan Region electorate.
Garrett held the position of shadow cabinet secretary in the state government before the election in 2014. A disagreement between the CFA and the Victorian government over an enterprise bargaining agreement led to Garrett’s resignation from the Andrews Ministry in June 2016.
The argument centred on the CFA. On the 15th of August in 2016, a lady in Carlton physically attacked Garrett. Cancer came back in 2022, and she passed away in July of that year.
