Norrie was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995 to Scottish and Welsh parents who are both microbiologists. Norrie’s father, David, is from Glasgow, while his mother, Helen, hails from Cardiff.
Norrie and his family relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, in 1998, when he was three years old, as a result of an event involving a burglary.
His parents continue to reside in Auckland. In 2011, at the age of sixteen, he relocated to his parents’ homeland of the United Kingdom, where he resided in London for a period of three years before enrolling in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for the academic years 2014 to 2017.
In June of 2017, he decided to leave TCU to begin his career as a professional tennis player on the grass court season of the 2017 ATP Tour.
Putney, in southwest London, has been his home base since since he turned his hobby into a vocation
Norrie made the decision to move back home to New Zealand with his parents for the remainder of the year after the Indian Wells Masters was called off in March 2020 due to the commencement of the pandemic lockdowns.
Cameron Norrie is an avid follower of South Sydney Rabbitohs (rugby league), the All Blacks (rugby union), and Newcastle United (association football).
