Danielle Collins is an American professional tennis player. She reached career-high WTA rankings of No. 8 in singles and world No. 86 in doubles.
Her success at the Australian Open continued her ascent. She had never previously triumphed in a match at a significant competition prior to the tournament.
After a challenging first-round battle in which she defeated the 14th seed Julia Gorges, Collins went on to win her next three matches in straight sets. Her first match was against Sachia Vickery, and then she defeated the 19th seed Caroline Garcia.
Collins was able to pull off the biggest upset of the tournament in the round of 16, when she defeated Angelique Kerber, the second seed in the match and a three-time winner of a major championship, in straight sets.
She was able to advance to the quarterfinals this way, where she proceeded to win in three sets against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She was defeated in the semifinals by the eighth seed, Petra Kvitová, in two sets. As a result of the tournament, Collins reached a new career-high ranking of No. 23 on January 28, 2019.
Who is the Guy With Danielle Collins?
Tom Couch is a former Australian Football League player for Melbourne Football Club (AFL). The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only professional Australian rules football league.
For the Tasmanian Football League’s North Launceston, Couch was hired as their playing coach. Two years later, Danielle Collins, the 33-year-physical old’s trainer, began working with her professionally. They’ve been together for a long time.
Over the past two years, Couch has been a frequent presence in Collins’ player box at events. For her quarterfinal match against Sofia Kenin at the 2020 French Open, Collins famously asked Couch to move seats so she wouldn’t be distracted.
