American media executive, political strategist, and former investment banker Stephen Kevin Bannon was born on November 27, 1953. He worked as the White House’s top strategist during the first seven months of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
He formerly served on the board of the now-defunct data-analytics company Cambridge Analytica and was a former executive chairman of Breitbart News.
For seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Bannon served as an officer in the US Navy. He served in the military and then worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs for two years. He took over as acting head of the research project Biosphere 2 in 1993.
In Hollywood, he attained the position of executive producer, working on 18 movies between 1991 and 2016. He helped start Breitbart News in 2007, a far-right website he referred to in 2016 as “the platform for the alt-right.”
After failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the House of Representatives committee looking into the 2021 attack on the US Capitol, the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, Bannon was found in contempt of Congress in October 2021.
Two counts of criminal contempt of Congress were brought against him by a federal grand jury. He was found guilty on both counts in a jury trial in July 2022.
