The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta. The National Football League’s National Football Conference South division is home to the Falcons. It was started in June of the year 1965.
The Falcons have resided in three stadiums during the course of their 51-year existence; the third of those, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, debuted in late summer of 2017. The first was the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, which the Atlanta Braves baseball team utilized up until 1991. The Falcons played their home games at the Georgia Dome, which was built in 1992.
The Dome has frequently hosted collegiate football games, most notably Georgia State football games and college bowl games. In their 55-year history, the Falcons had a regular-season record of 369-473-6 and a postseason record of 10-14. Additionally, they have triumphed in the category in 1980, 1998, 2004, 2010, 2012, and 2016.
The Falcons have played in two Super Bowls, losing to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI, respectively, by scores of 34-28 in overtime. The Falcons’ current home field, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, made its debut in 2017. Located 50 acres northeast of Atlanta in Flowery Branch, Hall County, are the team’s offices and practice facilities.
