A professional American football team, the Carolina Panthers are based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers play in the National Football Conference South division of the National Football League. Jerry Richardson was the team’s initial owner and creator when it was first founded in 1993 and when it first started competing in 1995.
The Panthers performed admirably in their first two seasons, going 7-9 in 1995 and 12-4 in 1996, capturing the NFC West before falling to the eventual Super Bowl winner Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. They did not have another successful campaign until 2003, when they advanced to the Super Bowl XXXVIII after winning the NFC Championship Game.
The Carolina Panthers in 2021 are still the NFC’s newest team. In May 2018, the majority of league owners voted to authorize David Tepper’s purchase of the team from its founder Jerry Richardson. The official name of the franchise is Panther Football, LLC.
The club is thought to be worth $2.3 billion in the US. The Panthers had a challenging season in 2020 and lost a number of tight contests. They started the 2021 season with three victories, but they ended the year with a 5-12 record and a seven-game losing streak.
Have the Panthers won the Superbowl?
No. The Carolina Panthers have never won a Super Bowl although they have been to the Super Bowl two times.
