The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team that is based in Chicago. The Bears compete in the National Football League’s National Football Conference North division.
In September 1919, the franchise was founded in Decatur, Illinois. It became professional in September 1920, and in 1921, it moved to Chicago. It is one of just two franchises from the NFL’s 1920 founding that is still in operation, the other being the Arizona Cardinals, who were originally from Chicago. The team’s home games were once held in Wrigley Field on Chicago’s North Side; however, they are now held at Soldier Field, which is close to Lake Michigan on the South Side.
The team’s administrative center, Halas Hall, is situated in the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest, Illinois. The Bears practice in adjacent facilities during the regular season, but in 2020, after substantial renovations, Halas Hall began hosting Training Camp.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers share a long-standing rivalry. The Green Bay Packers and the Bears have been foes ever since the Bears were founded in 1920. The Green Bay Packers presently possess a 103-95-6 edge in their two postseason meetings against each other.
