Hunter Moore is a convicted felon who hails from Sacramento, California, in the United States of America.
He was dubbed “the most loathed man on the Internet” by Rolling Stone magazine.
He founded the revenge porn website Is Anyone Up? in 2010, allowing users to post sexual and explicit photographs of someone online without their knowledge, typically accompanied by personal information such as their names and residences.
Moore refused to remove photographs upon asking. Moore compared himself to Charles Manson and labeled himself a “professional life ruiner.”
Moore maintained the website for 16 months, during which time he said multiple times that he was protected by the same laws that protect Facebook.
Moore also employed a hacker to pry into victims’ email accounts and grab intimate images to post.
After obtaining evidence from the mother of one of the victims, the FBI launched an investigation into Moore in 2012.
In April 2012, the site was closed and sold to an anti-bullying organization. In February 2015, Moore entered a plea of guilty to felony charges of aggravated identity theft and assisting in illegal computer access.
Moore was convicted in November 2015 to two years and six months in prison, a $2,000 fine, and $145.70 in compensation.
In May of 2017, he was granted parole and allowed to leave prison.
