The greater New York City area is home to the New York Jets, a professional American football team. The Jets play in the National Football League’s American Football Conference East division. The group was established in 1959 and given the name Titans of New York as a founding member of the American Football League (AFL). Following the merger of the NFL and AFL in 1970, the team joined the NFL.
The group originally took part in activities at the Polo Grounds in 1960. The club left Yankee Stadium in 1964 and relocated to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in 1984. In 1963, new management made the decision to use the current name. In 1968, the Jets made their maiden postseason appearance. They defeated the Baltimore Colts in the AFL and NFL World Championship Game as a result of their victory in Super Bowl III, becoming the first AFL club to do it.
The Jets have competed in 13 postseason games and four AFC Championship Games since 1968. The only two NFL teams to triumph in their lone Super Bowl participation are the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints. One of four teams who have never won the AFC championship is this one.
Are the Jets older than the Giants?
The Giants are older. The Giants was established in 1925 whiles the Jets was established in 1959.
