Cleveland is home to the Cleveland Browns, a professional American football club. They play in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division and are named for their initial coach and co-founder, Paul Brown.
FirstEnergy Stadium was opened in 1999 and has administrative and training facilities near Berea, Ohio, where the Browns play their home games. Brown, orange, and white are the Browns’ official club colors.
They stand out from the other 32 NFL member franchises since their helmets lack a logo. The team was established in 1944 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) by industrialist Arthur B. McBride and began competition in 1946.
The Browns dominated the AAFC, amassing a 47-4-3 record and claiming the league’s championship in each of the four seasons.
Cleveland Browns Logo
One of the initial three logos for the Browns, who first appeared in 1946, was Brownie the Elf.
After former team owner Art Modell reportedly hated the logo/mascot, it was phased away, but Brownie has since made multiple cameos since the team moved back to Cleveland in 1999.
