Josh Allen, who recently finished his fourth season in the NFL, recently received a record-breaking new contract with the Buffalo Bills.
Allen and the Bills reached an agreement on a six-year, $258 million contract extension as he entered his fourth season in the NFL. After the Bills had earlier in the summer activated his fifth-year option, Allen was about to enter the fourth season of his rookie deal.
The contract agreement with Allen includes full guarantees of $100 million upfront and lifetime guarantees of $150 million.
It’s interesting to note that the signing bonus in the original agreement was only $16.5 million. However, a $42.5 million option bonus will be given in 2022. Additional incentives totaling $30 million are also reportedly available.
To keep Allen’s 2021 cap number under control, the signing bonus and option bonus were divided. The choice bonus has a 100 percent guarantee.
The Bills didn’t have to carry an additional $8.5 million in prorated bonus money in 2021, though.
This is due to the fact that the prorated amount of money from the rookie contract was already $3.371 million. The contract is now over, thus the Bills can now accept more prorated payments through 2022.
