American football quarterback Josh Allen currently plays for the Buffalo Bills, who are members of the National Football League (NFL). After a successful college football career in Wyoming,
where he was named most valuable player in a bowl game, the Bills picked him seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Allen enjoyed a breakout season in 2020,
Josh Allen spent his childhood on a cotton plantation located close to Fresno in California. He threw for the baseball team in addition to being the highest scorer for the basketball squad he played on.
There was not a single NCAA Division I school that extended a scholarship offer to Allen. The chance to walk on at San Diego State was presented to him, but he declined it since the school was unable to ensure that he would get any playing time.
Allen threw for 25 touchdowns with 4 interceptions and ran for 166 yards per game at Reedley College in 2014. The 2014 junior-college quarterbacks in California ranked him 7th with 26 touchdown passes.
His coaches expected he would earn numerous FBS scholarship offers at 6’5 and 210 pounds (1.96 m, 95 kg). He emailed every FBS head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and quarterback coach, but few institutions responded.
Coach Craig Bohl informed Allen’s father, “Your son is the only quarterback we want.” Allen picked Wyoming after Fresno State rejected him, enrolling before the 2015 season.
