Gregory Brian Mancz, an American football center with the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, was born on April 23, 1992. He played college football for Toledo, where he started at a number of offensive line positions for four years.
Throughout his undergraduate career, he received a number of All-American and All-MAC awards. He received the Vern Smith Leadership Award during his senior year of 2014, which is presented to the top player in the MAC.
Mancz didn’t receive a selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, but he soon signed with the Texans. Mancz was the Texans’ starting center for the entire 2016 season after Nick Martin suffered a season-ending injury.
Mancz participated in the 2015 NFL Combine, however, he did not participate in the workouts because of a shoulder injury he sustained in January 2015. According to NFLDraftScout.com, he was rated as the eighth-best center in the 2015 NFL Draft.
According to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, “Based on Mancz’s footage and history, one would have to believe that he will find a way to flourish in the league.” He was predicted by Zierlein to be taken in the sixth or seventh round. Mancz was predicted by SI.com’s Chris Burke to go in the middle to back of the fifth round.
Mancz joined the Houston Texans on May 8, 2015, after going undrafted in the 2015 Draft. He participated in the first three games of the 2015 season before sitting out the next five.
He hurt his knee in late October, necessitating surgery. On November 3, 2015, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve. On February 8, 2016, he was released from the injured reserve.
Mancz joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad on January 12, 2021. Mancz joined the Ravens on January 29, 2021, under a reserve/futures contract.
Mancz was traded to the Miami Dolphins on August 28, 2021, along with a pick in the seventh round of 2022, for a pick in the sixth round of 2022. On November 10, 2021, he was put on injured reserve. On December 18, he was put into service.
Mancz joined the Buffalo Bills on March 21, 2022.
