Alec Anderson, the right lineman for the UCLA football team, made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday morning that he would be entering the NFL Draft in 2022.
Anderson could have continued his collegiate career and competed in both of the remaining seasons of eligibility, but he made the decision to go on to the next level of competition instead.
The defensive lineman, Otito Ogbonnia was the first Bruins player to leave Westwood early for the NFL this summer, and now Anderson is the second Bruins player to follow in his footsteps.
A number of other players, including the striker Qwuantrezz Knight and the left guard Paul Grattan, have also declared for the draft; however, neither of these players were eligible to be selected in the first place.
Anderson made his debut with the team in 2018, appearing in a total of three games in a reserve capacity during that season.
He started the first three games of the 2019 season at right tackle until the lineup was reshuffled and he was moved into a rotating role. Nevertheless, he started the right tackle position in all 17 games he was healthy for throughout the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
How Tall Is Alec Anderson?
Alec Anderson was one of UCLA’s most physically imposing blockers up front, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 305 pounds.
