Tanner Owen was acquired off waivers earlier this week by the New Orleans Saints from the Buffalo Bills. On the Saints’ web roster, Tanner Owen is listed as an offensive lineman position.
This would indicate that he is back to his natural left tackle post rather than guard, where Buffalo tested him out on both sides of the offensive line. He lined up there in hundreds of games while playing for Northwest Missouri State.
If so, he would be third on the team’s depth chart, after James Hurst and Landon Young. Lewis Kidd and Ryan Ramczyk are playing right guard for the team.
Although he started his college career at Northwest Missouri State as an undrafted rookie at left tackle, the player spent the summer in Buffalo at both guard positions. He provides some versatility to the Saints offensive line as someone who has experience playing both guard and tackle, which should assist strengthen some of the Saints offensive line’s weaker spots.
It is not yet clear what the corresponding move on the roster will be in this case, and there will be a lot of different moving parts in the hours and days that are to come. Therefore, keep up with the situation to find out who will be removed from the 53-man roster to make way for Owen.
