He played football in high school at Western Albemarle High School, which is situated in Crozet, Virginia. He participated in football the entire time he was a student there. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he played football for the Virginia Tech Hokies team from 2018 until his graduation in 2021.
While a student at the school, he participated in 13 games in 2019, starting five of them at right tackle. He was a versatile offensive lineman who also participated on special teams. He started his team’s first right tackle against Wake Forest. Before getting his degree in 2021, he participated in 12 games as a starter, starting 11 at left tackle and one at right tackle. He was chosen for the All-ACC Third Team in 2020. The Buffalo Bills took him with the 209th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft after he graduated from college.
