Jordan Poyer, sometimes known as Jordan Lynn-Baxter Poyer, is a strong safety for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He played football for the Astoria High School squad. As a freshman on the football team and a senior on the baseball team, he helped those teams win state championships.

After graduating from high school, he attended Oregon State University and played football for the Oregon State Beavers from 2009 to 2012. As a true freshman in 2009, he played in 13 games and recorded 11 tackles. The following year, he played cornerback and finished with 34 tackles and 1,109 all-purpose yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Poyer in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In May 2013, Poyer agreed to a four-year, $2.22 million deal with the Eagles, which also featured a $60,256 signing bonus. In October 2013, he was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns. In Week 14 of that year’s December against the New England Patriots, a 27-26 loss, he made a season-high six solo tackles.

In March 2017, the Buffalo Bills agreed to a four-year, $13 million deal with him. In March 2020, he and the Bills came to a two-year contract extension agreement. In January 2022, Poyer was chosen for the first time in his career to the 2021 All-Pro Team.
