In preparation for their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., the Houston Texans have made some changes to their roster. The regular season of the 2022 season will begin at Central Time.
After meeting with the running back on September 7th, Houston decided to go ahead and sign Gerrid Doaks.
Doaks was selected by the Miami Dolphins from Cincinnati in the seventh round of the NFL draft in 2021. The running back, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 228 pounds, spent some time on the practice squad of the Dolphins, signed a reserve/future contract with the team at the end of the 2021 season, and then was released by the Dolphins at the end of the 2022 preseason as the team was finalizing its roster of 53 players.
The Texans released fullback Paul Quessenberry in order to create room for Doaks. Quessenberry was a part of the Texans’ commitment to utilize the position under offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton’s run-heavy scheme, but the Texans removed him in order to make way for Doaks.
