The Miami Dolphins signed ZaQuandre White, a free agent out of South Carolina, to a contract, expanding their running back room. Prior to the NFL Draft, White was ranked as the 18th best running back by CBS Sports.
He measures 6’0″ and weighs 215 pounds. It makes sense to add a stronger back like White with all the speed the Fins currently possess.
He first began his college career as a linebacker at Florida State. He eventually made his way to South Carolina, where he played running back, after leaving Florida State.
While White did not start as the main running back in college, he was quite effective in the few snaps that he did receive last season. He ran 88 times, averaging 6.3 yards per carrying.
He ran a dismal 4.63 in the 40-yard sprint during his pro day and could only complete 9 repetitions of the bench press.
He is a superior athlete on tape than what the testing results indicated, according to Pro Football Focus. In order for White to be included on the roster of the Miami Dolphins, he must meet the requirements.
His one-cut athleticism can provide a new dimension to the Fins’ running game, which has long required improvement.
It will be interesting to see if White can be trained by the Miami Dolphins personnel to establish himself as a mainstay in the backfield for years to come.
When did ZaQuandre White get drafted?
ZaQuandre White entered the 2022 NFL drafted but was not selected by any team, instead he signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. White was one of the top athletes in America coming out of high school, and he has the highlight footage to prove it, despite the fact that he wasn’t drafted.
