Adam Shaheen plays tight end in American football for the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins. In Galena, Ohio, he was born on October 24, 1994. He played football when a student at Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio. At the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, he participated in one season of college basketball.
He changed schools in 2014 and walked on to the football team at Ashland University. He collected 129 receptions for 1,755 yards and 26 touchdowns throughout the course of his career. Shaheen made the decision to forego his senior year and join the 2017 NFL Draft following the 2016 season. He was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Shaheen was given a four-year, $5.91 million deal by the Chicago Bears in May 2017, with a $3.17 million guarantee and a $2.43 million signing bonus. In the season opener for the Chicago Bears, he played his first regular-season game as a professional. He earned his first career start in September 2017 and caught his first career ball on a two-yard touchdown throw from quarterback Mike Glenn.
Shaheen was dealt to the Miami Dolphins in July 2020 in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick. He scored his first touchdown for the Dolphins in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. Shaheen and the Dolphins agreed to a two-year, $7.65 million contract agreement on October 28, 2020.
