Michael Deiter plays center in American football for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. While attending Genoa Area High School in Genoa, Ohio, he participated in high school football. In 2012, his junior year, he was selected as an offensive and defensive lineman for the Northern Buckeye Conference All-Conference team.

During his senior year, he was selected for the offensive line first team All-Ohio squad and was named the Northern Buckeye Conference Lineman of the Year. He was also named Lineman of the Year for the Great Lakes Region and District IV by the Associated Press.

He played football for the University of Wisconsin-Badgers Madison team after finishing high school. He wore a redshirt his first year at Wisconsin. As a redshirt freshman in 2015, he made all 13 starts, including the final five of the season, and received his first letter in the process. He started seven games at left guard and six at center.

He was considered a front-runner for the “Piesman” Trophy, which is awarded each year to a college lineman acting “decidedly un-linemanlike,” after his 4-yard rushing touchdown against Illinois. Prior to the 2018 season, he was chosen for the AP second team pre-season All American. Deiter was chosen by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
