For the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League, Melvin Ingram III plays outside linebacker in American football. He is 112 kg and 1.88 m tall. He went to Rockingham, North Carolina’s Richmond Senior High School. He had 2.5 sacks and 87 tackles as a senior linebacker. From 2007 through 2011, he participated in college football for the University of South Carolina’s South Carolina Gamecocks squad.
He led the team in sacks as a junior in 2010 with nine. He recorded 10 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss, and 2 interceptions in 2011. He added three touchdowns as well. Ingram was named to the first team of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and had a good senior campaign, which helped the Gamecocks’ defense finish fourth in the final national poll.
A unanimous All-American designation was also given to him. He was chosen in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. A four-year, $66 million deal with a $42 million guarantee was signed by him on June 11, 2017. Ingram suffered a knee injury in September 2020 and was put on injured reserve. On October 24, 2020, he was turned on.
On November 27, 2020, his knee ailment forced the reinstatement of injured reserve. He committed to the Pittsburgh Steelers in July 2021, under a one-year deal. November 2021 saw the deal that brought him to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Miami Dolphins agreed to a deal with Ingram in May 2022.
