Deandre Johnson is a three-star recruit out of Miami’s Southridge High School. He was an integral component of the Spartans’ run to the 8A State Championship and a 12-2 record in 2016–2017. Johnson completed his high school studies early in order to enroll at the University of Tennessee in January 2017. He was the captain of the team and was considered to be one of the best prospects in Florida.
Deandre Johnson played for Tennessee for the first four seasons of his career, during which time he appeared in 41 total games and started nine of those contests. During his time with the Volunteers, he finished his career with a total of 58 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks.
Johnson had the best game of his career in the opening game of the 2020 season against South Carolina. He finished with six tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble, which earned him the title of SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
