Jaelan Philips is an American football outside linebacker for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL).
Phillips was born in Redlands, California, on May 28, 1999, and he attended Redlands East Valley High School, where he finished his high school career with 264 tackles, 31.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions. Phillips also played football for the Redlands Roughriders of the Arena Football League.
Before making his decision to attend UCLA, he was one of the most highly recruited high school football prospects from the class of 2017, with over 20 scholarship offers.
Phillips participated in collegiate football at UCLA for two years before calling it quits due to a number of head injuries and other ailments and retiring from the sport following the 2018 season.
After that, he attended Los Angeles City College to study music production until transferring to the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in 2019. While there, he also resumed his football career and played for the Miami Hurricanes.
In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Phillips was selected by the Dolphins to join their team.
