Having missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year in 2021, the Miami Dolphins have done a lot this offseason to rectify their plight.
It’s understandable that some of the re-signings made by the Dolphins have received less attention than the other decisions made by general manager Chris Grier and the team’s other decision-makers involving external free agents. Re-signing linebacker Duke Riley is one possibility.
After stints with the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, Riley, 27, is returning to Miami for his second season. Since the Dolphins haven’t made any significant moves in the position thus far, Riley is likely to resume his previous duties on defense and special teams.
The one-year contract that the ex-Louisiana State University player signed is for $3 million. It has a guaranteed basic salary of $1.25 million, according to Over the Cap.
Additionally, he was awarded a $1 million signing bonus in addition to $750,000 in roster incentives for each game he played. In 2022, his salary cap hit will be at $2.96 million.
