In the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Sanders was selected by the Miami Dolphins as their 229th overall pick. In that year, he was part of the lucky two kickers who were selected in the draft.

After the Dolphins released undrafted rookie kicker Greg Joseph, he was designated the team’s starting kicker. In the season opener against the Tennessee Titans, he played in his first NFL game.

In the 27-20 triumph, he made all three of his field goal attempts and both of his extra-point attempts.

In overtime during Week 6’s matchup with the Chicago Bears, he kicked the game-winning field goal. Sanders had a 90 percent field goal conversion rate in 16 games, which was the fifth-best mark in school history.

Sanders hit 18 of 20 field goals overall on the season. Additionally, he scored 35 out of 36 extra points. Sanders was selected for the 2018 Pro Football Writers of America all-rookie team following his debut season.
