He played high school football at Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. He participated in college football for the Syracuse Orange at Syracuse University from 2015 to 2019.
Throughout his college career, he accumulated 270 punts for 11,651 net yards, a 43.2 average. Hofrichter was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On August 3, 2021, the Falcons waived him or injured him before putting him on injured reserve. He was released on August 26, 2021, at noon. Although he attempted four field goals and kicked off for two seasons, his primary position in college was punter.
