The Miami Dolphins’ punter Sterling Hofrichter competes in the National Football League. He was born on December 5, 1996, to Bill and Debbie Hofrichter in Jacksonville, Florida, in the United States. He played high school football at Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. He participated in college football for the Syracuse Orange at Syracuse University from 2015 to 2019.
Throughout his college career, he racked up 270 punts for 11,651 net yards, a 43.2 average. Hofrichter was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On August 3, 2021, the Falcons waived or injured him and put him on injured reserve. He was released on August 26, 2021, at noon.
While in college, he mostly lined up as a punter, however he also made four field goals attempts and kicked off for two seasons. Throughout his college career, he punted 270 times for an average of 43.2 yards, good for 11,651 net yards.
On December 14, 2021, he was added to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. He was released on January 18, 2022. He and the Buccaneers reached an agreement on a reserve/future contract on January 31, 2022. After being released on July 29, 2022, he signed with the Miami Dolphins on August 5, 2022.
