Sterling Hofrichter plays in the National Football League for the Miami Dolphins. He plays as a punter for the team. Bill and Debbie Hofrichter welcomed him into the world on December 5, 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida, in the United States. He went to Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida, where he played high school football.
From 2015 through 2019, he played collegiate football for the Syracuse Orange at Syracuse University. He primarily lined up as a punter while in college, although he also attempted four field goals and kicked off for two seasons. He punted 270 times for a 43.2 average throughout the course of his undergraduate career, good for 11,651 net yards.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Hofrichter in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was placed on injured reserve by the Falcons on August 3, 2021, after being waived or injured. At noon on August 26, 2021, he was freed.
He was added to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad on December 14, 2021. In 2022, on January 18th, he was liberated. On January 31, 2022, he agreed to a reserve/future deal with the Buccaneers. He signed with the Miami Dolphins on August 5, 2022, after being released on July 29, 2022.
