DeVante Parker, a wide receiver for the National Football League’s New England Patriots, was born on January 20, 1993. In the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected him. At Louisville, he played collegiate football.
Parker is the child of Anthony Shelman, a former running back for Louisville, and Raneca Parker. He was a three-sport star in basketball, football, and track while he was a student at Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned two All-State honors.
As a junior, he hauled in 73 passes for 1,438 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Miami Dolphins drafted Parker with the 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Parker played in 15 games as a rookie, starting four of them. He scored his first receiving touchdown in the NFL in Week 12 against the New York Jets thanks to a 33-yard reception from quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
He recorded five receptions for 106 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown in the regular season’s final game against the New England Patriots. He hauled in 26 passes for 494 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and three catches.
Parker and a 2022 fifth-round selection were dealt to the New England Patriots on April 5, 2022, for a 2023 third-round pick.
After being selected by Miami in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft (14th overall) out of Louisville, Parker, 28, has played for them for seven seasons.
The 6-foot-3, 219-pound player has made 64 starts over 93 regular-season contests while racking up 338 grabs for 4,727 yards and 24 touchdowns.
