Kody Russey earned a sustainable supply chain management bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech in March 2020 with a cumulative GPA of 3.695. He is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration with a 4.0 GPA.
He has earned five spots on the President’s List and four spots on the Dean’s List. In 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, he was included on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Russey is a key figure for the squad both on and off the field. He was elected as captain twice, once as a junior and once as a senior, by his teammates. Only three players have been chosen as team captains twice in the eight years that Skip Holtz has been the head coach at Louisiana Tech.
Russey’s leadership skills have earned him the respect of both his teammates and coaches and when he talks, people pay attention. Russey has served as LA Tech’s starting center for the previous 41 games, making him a leader on the field as well.
Russey is a committed volunteer in his neighborhood, spending time with the Boys and Girls Club, the Children’s Home, and the Louisiana Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Russey has also dedicated a lot of time to aid in tornado relief after Ruston was struck by an EF3 tornado on April 25, 2019, which had speeds of up to 150 mph.
