Strange was considered a two-star prospect and first committed to play college football at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. However, he eventually backtracked on his commitment and signed a letter of intent to play for the Air Force Academy.
Strange made a commitment to the Air Force for a period of time before changing his mind and making a new commitment to Chattanooga. He will redshirt his first year there.
He participated in ten games as a redshirt freshman and started six of those games at left guard. During his redshirt sophomore season, Strange started all 11 games at left guard and was named to the Southern Conference’s second team All-Conference (SoCon).
As a redshirt junior, he started 11 games at left guard and the final game of the season for the Mocs at center due to an injury. He was selected to the second team All-SoCon for the second consecutive year.
