American football offensive tackle Justin Herron is currently under contract with the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He attended Wake Forest University for his college football career.
Herron graduated from Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, in 2014, where he was a member of the offensive line and was also a student.
He was also a member of the jazz band and played the trumpet, in addition to participating in other sports such as baseball and basketball.
Herron, a three-star prospect, chose Wake Forest as his school of choice despite having offers from Boston College, Old Dominion, Rutgers, and Villanova.
In the first week of the 2018 season, Herron suffered an ACL tear. After returning for a further year to complete his graduate studies, he was given the role of team captain and was recognized by the ACC as a member of the third team.
He established a new record at Wake Forest with 51 games played.
The New England Patriots selected Herron in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, giving them the 195th overall pick in the process. Due to an injury to his ankle on October 31, 2020, he was sent to the injured reserve. On November 28, 2020, he was put on active duty.
