Joe Cardona is the New England Patriots’ long snapper in the National Football League. On April 16, 1992, in El Cajon, California, in the United States, he was born to Patrick and Margaret Cardona. He graduated with a diploma from Granite Hills High School in 2010. Before submitting an application to the Naval Academy, he spent an entire year attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. He played football for the Navy Midshipmen team there while majoring in economics.
He started each game throughout the course of his four years as a Navy long snapper. Cardona was chosen by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, making him only the fourth pure long snapper ever to go that far. On June 4, 2015, Cardona, a rookie, signed a contract with the Patriots. He was a part of both of the Patriots’ postseason wins prior to their victory in Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. The New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime thanks in part to him.
On February 4, Cardona took part in the Super Bowl and contributed to the Patriots’ victories in both of their postseason contests that year. On June 14, 2018, Cardona and the Patriots came to an agreement on an additional four years of his contract. At the Naval Academy Preparatory School during his first season, he worked a 24-hour shift as the command duty officer. In June 2019, a ceremony at Gillette Stadium marked his promotion to the rank of lieutenant.
