Matthew LaFleur was born on November 14th, 1979. He is an American football coach who currently serves as the head coach of the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers (NFL). He formerly served as the quarterbacks’ coach for the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons, as well as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee Titans.
Beginning of His Coaching Career
LaFleur began his coaching career in 2003 as an offensive graduate assistant at his alma mater, Saginaw Valley State, where he also substitute taught math. In 2004, and 2005, LaFleur assisted the offensive staff at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. He was a quarterbacks and receivers coach at Northern Michigan University in Marquette from 2006 to 2007. In 2007, LaFleur served as the offensive coordinator for Ohio’s Ashland University.
Before His Career Began As a Coach
Before his career as a coach began, Matt LaFleur was a backup quarterback for the Omaha Beef in the National Indoor Football League for a short time.
Also, in 1998 and 1999, LaFleur played wide receiver for Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. From 2000 through 2002, he played quarterback at Saginaw Valley State in Division II, leading the Cardinals to the D-II playoffs each year.
